Nacido en Chipre, Aristóbulo era hermano de Bernabé. Era discípulo del apóstol Pablo, quien lo menciona en la Epístola a los romanos (cfr. Romanos 16:10). Cuando el gran Apóstol designó a muchos obispos para distintas partes del mundo, hizo a Aristóbulo obispo de Britania (es decir, Inglaterra). En la Britania vivía un pueblo salvaje, pagano, y malvado, y Aristóbulo padeció entre ellos innumerables tormentos, infortunios, y maldades. Lo golpeaban sin misericordia, lo arrastraban por las calles, e injuriándolo se mofaban de él. Pero al final este santo varón triunfó por el poder de la gracia de Dios. Iluminó al pueblo, lo bautizó en el nombre de Cristo el Señor, construyó iglesias, ordenó presbíteros y diáconos, y finalmente murió allí en paz, entrando al Reino del Señor al que sirvió tan fielmente.
