Aceasta a fost femeia samarineanca care a fost învrednicita de sansa rara de a sta de vorba cu Domnul Hristos la Fîntîna lui lacov de lînga Sihar (loan 4: 4-31). Crezînd în Hristos, Fotinia mai apoi a predicat Evanghelia împreuna cu Victor si losua, cei doi fii ai ei, si cu cele cinci surori ale ei, Anatolia, Fota, Fotida, Parascheva si Chiriaca. Ele au mers în Africa, în cetatea Cartagina. Acolo ele au fost arestate si duse la Roma, împarat fiind Nero, unde au fost aruncate în temnita. Prin Pronia dumnezeiasca Domnina, fiica lui Nero, a intrat în legatura cu Sfînta Fotinia, prin care s-a convertit la Hristos. Dupa întemnitare Sfînta Fotinia si surorile ei au luat toate mucenicia pentru Hristos. Sfînta Fotinia, care luminata a fost de însusi Mîntuitorul la Fîntîna lui lacov de lînga Sihar, a luat mucenicia fiind aruncata într-o fîntîna, si asa s-a stramutat la locasurile cele vesnice ale împaratului Hristos.
