Sfanta Mucenita Evdochia era originara din cetatea Heliopolis, din provincia Liban (Frigia), si a trait in timpul imparatului Traian. O buna parte a vietii si-a petrecut-o in desfranare, agonisind o avere insemnata. Schimbarea sa launtrica s-a petrecut in chip minunat, datorita monahului Gherman. In urma convorbirilor duhovnicesti cu acesta, Evdochia a luat hotararea de a primi Botezul. Dupa ce a fost botezata de catre Teodot, episcopul cetatii, ea si-a impartit toata averea saracilor, apoi s-a calugarit. In manastire s-a daruit celei mai aspre vietuiri, in desavarsita ascultare, in posturi, privegheri, si rugaciuni. Nu dupa mult timp, obstea manastirii a cerut-o stareta. Pentru pocainta sa adanca, Dumnezeu a invrednicit-o cu darul invierii mortilor. Cuvioasa a dobandit moarte muceniceasca, in timpul persecutiei din vremea lui Vincentiu, conducatorul cetatii Heliopolis.
