Sfintii drepti parinti loachim si Ana au fost lipsiti de copii vreme de cincizeci de ani ai casniciei lor; iar la batrînetele lor s-a pogorît la fiecare din ei în parte Arhanghelul Domnului, Gavriil, si le-a vestit ca a auzit Dumnezeu rugaciunile lor, si ca vor naste o fiica pe care o vor numi Maria. Apoi a zamislit Sfînta Ana împreuna cu sotul ei, în felul firesc al oamenilor, si dupa noua luni a nascut prunc de parte femeiasca, pe fiica cea binecuvîntata de Dumnezeu si de toate neamurile de oameni de pe pamînt, pre Preasfinta Fecioara Maria, de Dumnezeu Nascatoarea.
