Свештеник Никомидиски. Во времето на царот Максимијан беше со оние дваесет илјади маченици коишто царот ги осуди да бидат изгорени в црква (житие под 28 декември). Ермолај некако ја избегна смртта во таа прилика, заедно со уште двајца други свештеници, Ермип и Ермократ. Тој го крсти Свети Пантелејмон и заедно со него беше изведен на суд, мачен и најпосле убиен со меч. Со него пострадаа и Ермип и Ермократ и сите беа овенчани со венци на победа и слава во Царството Христово. Чесно пострадаа околу 304 година.
