Управуваше со Црквата од 980 до 995 година. Тој го ракоположи за свештеник големиот Симеон Нов Богослов кога овој духовен великан беше избран за настојател на манастирот на Светиот маченик Мамант во Цариград. Во неговото време во Кареја се случи чудесното јавување на Светиот архангел Гавриил, кога на монасите им беше предадено славословието кон Пресвета Богородица со песната „Достојно ест“. Оваа песна архангелот ја запиша со прст на камена плоча во една келија на црквата која оттогаш се нарекува Достојно (под 13 јуни). Овој значаен голем јерарх мирно се упокои и премина во Небесното Царство.
