Ο Όσιος Ακεψιμάς έζησε τον 4ο αιώνα μ.Χ. κατά την εποχή του αυτοκράτορα Θεοδοσίου Α' του Μεγάλου. Μετά από μία ζωή κοινωνική, κατά την οποία διακρίθηκε για την ευσέβειά της, κατέφυγε στον ερημικό βίο. Έκτισε την οικία του εντός ενός σπηλαίου. Τρεφόταν από τα πενιχρά προϊόντα της φύσεως. Ενίοτε του έφερναν τρόφιμα περαστικοί και ευσεβείς άνθρωποι. Ο Όσιος κρατούσε λίγα, μόνο τα άκρως απαραίτητα για τη σίτισή του και τα άλλα τα έδινε στους φτωχούς. Έπειτα προσκαλούσε τους ευεργέτες του στο σπήλαιο που ζούσε. Εκεί ο Ακεψιμάς ανταπέδιδε την καλοσύνη τους με διδασκαλία στο λόγο του Θεού. Ο Όσιος πραγματοποίησε πολλά θαύματα. Παρέδωσε εν ειρήνη το Πνεύμα του στον Κύριο.
