ღირსი ლუკა ტავრომენიელი სიცილიის ქალაქ ტავრომენიიდან იყო. მან სიყმაწვილეშივე დატოვა მშობლები, საცოლე და უდაბნოს მიაშურა, სადაც მრავალი წელი დაჰყო მარხვითა და ლოცვით. ნეტარი ეტნის მთაზე მოსაგრეობდა, სადაც სიცოცხლის მიწურულს ზეგარდამო გამოცხადებით მონასტერი დააარსა. სხვა სავანეთა წეს-განგებების გასაცნობად უფლის რჩეულმა მრავალი ქალაქი შემოიარა. ერთ-ერთი ასეთი მოგზაურობის დროს, ქალაქ კორინთოში მან მშვიდობით შეჰვედრა სული უფალს (IX ს-ის დასაწყისი).
