წმიდა მოწამე მატრონა თესალონიკში მცხოვრები ერთი დიდგვაროვანი ებრაელი ქალბატონის მხევალი იყო. ქალბატონს სურდა, იუდაიზმზე მოექცია იგი და ხშირად სცემდა, ბოლოს კი, გააფთრებისგან გონდაკარგულმა, დილეგში გამოამწყვდია და კარები დალუქა. წმიდა მოწამე მატრონა საკანში გარდაიცვალა (III ან IV საუკუნეში). მისი ცხედარი ქალაქის გალავანს მიღმა დააგდეს, მაგრამ ქრისტიანებმა პატივით მიაბარეს იგი მიწას. სხვა ცნობით, წმიდა მატრონა აწამეს წარმართებმა, რომელთაც იგი თავისმა ქალბატონმა გადასცა. მოგვიანებით თესალონიკში წმ. მატრონას სახელობის ტაძარი ააგეს და მისი პატიოსანი ცხედარი იქ გადააბრძანეს. წმიდა მოწამის ზოგიერთი ნაწილი დაცულია მაზერში, ტულუზის დიოცეზში (საფრანგეთი).
