ღირსი მარიამ – მარინი და მამა მისი ღირსი ევგენი IV საუკუნის დასაწყისში ცხოვრობდნენ ბითვინიაში (მცირე აზიის ჩრდილო დასავლეთი ოლქი). დაქვრივების შემდეგ ღირსმა ევგენიმ გადაწყვიტა მონასტერში წასულიყო, მისმა ასულმა კი არ ისურვა მამასთან განშორება, მამაკაცის ტანსაცმელი გადაიცვა და თან გაჰყვა მშობელს. ისინი ერთად დამკვიდრდნენ ალექსანდრიის მახლობლად მდებარე სავანეში, სადაც მარიამი მარინის სახელით აღკვეცეს ბერად.
