ღირსი იოანე, წმიდა ლიმნეის (ხს. 22 თებერვალს) მოწაფე, V საუკუნეში ცხოვრობდა, სირიაში. მან „მიუსაფარი ცხოვრების“ ღვაწლი იტვირთა. ღია ცის ქვეშ, მთის მწვერვალზე დაემკვიდრა და აქ 25 წელი დაჰყო. ღირსი მამა მხოლოდ პურითა და მარილით იკვებებოდა და სხეულს მძიმე ბორკილებით ითრგუნავდა. მასთან სტუმრად მოსულმა ერთმა მოსაგრემ მთაზე ნუშის ხე დარგო, რომ პაპანაქების დროს ჩრდილში თავის შეფარება შესძლებოდა, მაგრამ წმიდანმა ბრძანა, ხე მოეჭრათ – სხეულს ოდნავი განსვენების ნებაც არ მისცა.
