წმიდა მოწამენი: ელეფთერი, დედა მისი ანთია და კორივ ეპარქი. ელეფთერის დედა დიდგვაროვანი და მდიდარი რომაელი ქალი იყო. მან, ქრისტიანობაზე პავლე მოციქულის მიერ მოქცეულმა და მისი ხელითვე მონათლულმა, შვილიც ღვთისმოშიშებით აღზარდა. როცა ელეფთერის თხუთმეტი წელი შეუსრულდა, რომის პაპმა, ანაკლეტუსმა (76-88) იგი დიაკვნად აკურთხა, სამი წლის შემდეგ კი - მღვდლად დაასხა ხელი. ოცი წლის ასაკში ელეფთერი (ასეთი შემთხვევები ძალიან იშვიათია ეკლესიის ისტორიაში) ილირიის ეპისკოპოსად დაადგინეს. ახალგაზრდა მეუფე ბრძნულად განაგებდა სამწყსოს და მრავალ წარმართი მოაქცია ქრისტეს სჯულზე. წმიდანი ღვთაებრივი მადლით იყო აღსავსე, მთლიანად უფალს იყო მინდობილი და ამიტომაც მის ყოველგვარ უძლურებასა და ადამიანურ ნაკლს სულიწმიდის მადლი აღავსებდა.
