Der hl. Weniamin (westl. Benjamin) war Diakon und wirkte als Missionar in seiner Heimat Persien mit dem hl. Avdas, Bischof von Persien, unter dem Herrscher Persiens Izdigerd I. (401-402). Beide wurden dann verfolgt und im Jahre 418 (oder 402) gefangen genommen. Zuerst wurde der hl. Bischof Avdas gefoltert und enthauptet. Ihm folgten dann andere Märtyrer, sie wurden auch gefoltert und getötet. Besonders viel sollte der hl. Weniamin erdulden, schließlich wurde er auf den Spieß gesetzt.
