Der ehrw. Akakios lebte im 5. Jahrhundert. Als er Novize wurde, bekam er einen geistigen Vater, der jedoch den ehrw. Akakios oftmals beleidigte und sogar schlug. Der Ehrwürdige Johannes Klimakos (Gedenktag: 12. April (30. März)) erwähnt ihn in seinem Buch "Klimax" ("Leiter") als ein Beispiel für Geduld und Demut, die wichtigsten Tugenden für jeden Mönch und orthodoxen Christ insgesamt.
